'We really enjoyed our family stay at Jane's airbnb which was a great base for us to explore the attractive and interesting Shotley peninsular. The house is very attractive and modern. It has an airpump and electric car charging which is great! We found the house comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for meals. The outdoors area is really nice too - good patio and loads of birds tweeting in the garden. We would certainly return.'

The Suffolk Foodhall was ideal just round the corner as is Alton Water for a walk/bike ride although sadly for us Storm Eunice cut that a little short this time, so next time!'

Tried the Salthouse restaurant in Ipswich and loved the Suffolk food hall. Jane was an amazing host, very good communication and always checking to see if we were ok. Would definitely go back.'

'We stayed at The Woodcutters Lodge for the Easter weekend. Everything about it was fantastic - the lodge was peaceful and had everything we needed (Jane and Jason had also left some welcome treats, including some Easter eggs which was very nice of them!) The location was perfect for us - just a few mins to the Co-op, and also to bike rides and local walks thru the fields. We cycled to Alton Water where our boys did kayaking (they didn’t take advance bookings but we got there at 10am and they were straight in the water). We also cycled to Pin Mill for a great meal at the Butt & Oyster, and to the Suffolk Food Centre. We would definitely like to return and stay at the lodge again. Thanks!'

'Wow, what can we say apart from book now! This place was wonderful, so much thought has gone into your every need. I always want to stay somewhere as nice as my house or nicer and this really did hit the spot! This is home from home , just so you understand my house has just been completely updated and extended and I love it, so this tells you how much I liked this place. The lay out is brilliant for family and or friends, were were a group of 4 girls, but I would come back again with girls or my family. The pull out double bed was extremely comfy too. The decor is so warm and inviting, the kitchen family room is huge and great for enjoying time together. They really have filled it with all you need and more. This place is 5 star all round. Jane is the Perfect Host!'

'I could write a whole essay extolling the delights of this Airbnb! it really is exactly as described...quality throughout...Great TV and streaming channels too...every feature of the accommodation is excellent and we really enjoyed our stay. Good communication and response time from Jane and the thoughtful extras left for our arrival were a nice touch too. A quality experience all round...this really is an Airbnb to enjoy and appreciate just for itself...but its location is terrific too and the local walks and scenery are worth exploring. Great food to be had at the Red Lion Chelmondiston and at the Butt and Oyster, Pin Mill.'

'We have just spent Christmas at Woodcutters Lodge and it was fantastic. The lodge is very well appointed, extremely clean, spacious and has everything and more that you need. Jane had decorated it for Christmas and it was very tasteful. The pictures are true but can't express how wonderful the shower is and we will miss the well appointed bathrooms. Extra touches were evident around the lodge and so thoughtful. I think the lodge would also be wonderful in the summer with great walks nearby. We would recommend it and will hopefully be back in the future.'

'If you are looking for a high-end Air BnB with a boutique feel the look no further that Woodcutters lodge. This two bedroom retreat is brilliantly located on the edge of a well resourced village (local shop, butchers and pub) and within easy reach of everything Suffolk has to offer. The lodge has only recently been completed, is tastefully decorated and has all you need for a very comfortable stay (two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, washer and drier, under floor heating, electric charging point for the car and it's own garden). Added to which Jane, my host, responded really quickly to my queries and went out of her way to make me feel welcome. The wine, decorated Christmas Tree and mince pies were all very much appreciated. I have stayed in many Air BnB's all over the world and this is amongst the best. I will be back.'

'This accomodation is 5 Star and in a secluded spot on the edge of a village which has all the amenities you could need. There are ample foot and cycle paths to beautiful river and reservoir vistas. The hosts could not have been more helpful and went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. Will definately use this lovely Lodge again.'

'The lodge is wonderful. It is in a perfect location, quiet and secluded but close enough to be able to walk to the village amenities. It is incredibly well equipped with every conceivable device. It is warm and cosy. We had planned to eat out but we were so comfortable we decided to stay at "home" in the evenings and eat in. Jane was very attentive and gave us good recommendations on the local area. The Lodge Guide book was very detailed giving guidance on the area and the lodge itself. Very professional. We will return!'

'Woodcutters Lodge surpassed our expectations and we had a lovely stay. Everything we needed for a lovely family stay was provided. The cottave was very clean and communication with Jane was fab. Little touches of fresh scones and jam aswell as milk and butter really made our stay. We spent time visiting the Suffolk Food Hall, Alton Water and Jimmy's farm which are all close by. We will certainly be booking again in the future'

'I can't recommend Woodcutter's Lodge enough! It's a great space- as we pulled in, one of our party said 'is this all for us?'. It feels very private, safe and peaceful, has some lovely walks nearby and is well located for Sutton Hoo, Bury St Edmunds and other local attractions. Inside was comfortable, clean and we had a really well equipped kitchen- more than the bare minimum of crockery, always a bonus! One of our party was on crutches so we really appreciated that everything was on one level and there's a walk-in shower in the en suite. Jane and Jason are really lovely, very responsive and helpful. I'd really recommend this place if you want a quiet break in Suffolk!'

'We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Woodcutter Lodge. The property was immaculately kept. The hygiene was to a very high standard and the decor of the lodge was superb. The location was fantastic. We stayed as a group of 6 people, 2 adults and 4 children. The lodge is located a short drive away from Alton waters. The children enjoyed paddle boarding and successfully completed an 8 mile bike ride around Alton Lake. The views are beautiful. Jimmy’s farm, Suffolk Hall is also worth a visit. Lots of tasty food and the children enjoyed visiting the variety of animals. Again, all a short 15minute drive away. The property is extremely well equipped and beautifully maintained. Jane and Jason were always on hand for any queries regarding the surrounding area. We really look forward to returning soon. Thank you for having us.'

Jimmy’s Farm was a great day out and the food at the Butt and Oyster was really good. The kebabs from the local butchers were amazing and finished off a great week. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.'

'Jane’s place was extremely beautiful and a perfect place for a getaway! They had everything you would possibly want (games, all sorts of equipment for bbq, TV with Netflix and all other channels! We was provided with so many things that we were glad we picked Jane’s place as it had all things we forgot to bring. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly, they give you all the privacy you need! The lodge itself is extremely beautiful especially at night time! I will definitely be visiting again with my family.'

'We had such a wonderful break at Woodcutter’s Lodge! The lodge is perfect and we can’t fault it. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you could think of and would need. The decor is so nice and welcoming and the welcome items were a nice surprise too. We would 100% recommend to anyone and would love to return ourselves. We stayed with two young children and they loved it as much as us. It’s spacious which is great when travelling with children and the little garden and patio area was lovely to use when the weather was nice. The local area is lovely too and so so peaceful and relaxing. Thank you very much!'

'We have just spent the most wonderful few nights at Woodcutters lodge. The property is absolutely beautiful and the fittings and furnishings are so tasteful and luxurious. The attention to detail is brilliant and the property was spotlessly clean. The owners are so responsive and helpful and recommended a number of venues and activities in the local area. The kitchen is perfectly equipped with every thing you could need including plastic/children’s bowls. The bedding was immaculate and so comfortable. Outside is a beautiful, sunny patio and enclosed garden. The Freston boot was a great pub we dined at and we bought some wonderful meat from the local butchers for our BBQ! We hope to return time and Again! Thank you for a brilliant stay!'

'What an absolutely fantastic find! Woodcutters Lodge has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing time. From the fantastic local butcher (woodys) that supplied the bbq food, to the days spent at Alton water and Aldeburgh beach, the Lodge is the ideal base. The lodge is totally private and so we could fully relax with our noisy boys. Jane and Jason were the perfect hosts, on hand when we needed them but thanks to the Lodge set up, we always felt secluded. The only thing that could be improved is that we should’ve booked for longer!'

'Woodcutters Lodge is a lovely place to stay. Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Set in very peaceful & tranquil surroundings. Nice garden furniture. Co-op store within walking distance for your convenience. The Shotley Peninsula has a wealth of wonderful countryside & coastal walks and offers safe cycling too! Alton Water, Woolverstone Marina & Pin Mill are delightful and the Butt & Oyster offers good food with wonderful views over the Orwell Estuary. Holbrook Bay is beautiful and a wonderful swim spot at high tide (although I think it’s a local secret!) We would highly recommend a stay at Woodcutters Lodge and would like to stay again'

We have stayed in numerous venues in the past, but for a self-catering lodge this is top-notch and sets a new benchmark. Perfectly situated close to some beautiful countryside and a nice pub & shops within short walking distance, short drives to Ipswich and Colchester, it has been a perfect few days & we would absolutely recommend it. We will definitely be back.'

It has all of the modern conveniences we come to expect in our own homes yet has an olde world look combined with a tranquil setting. We used Woodcutters Lodge as a base to see Africa Alive, Jimmy’s Farm, Dedham (including boating along the River Stour), Southwold, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness (among other things). Our 4 year old had a whale of a time!'

'This is a beautiful lodge with all that we could ask for, spacious clean and comfortable. The lodge is very modern and has many mod com’s which was lovely. Very peaceful and private area with a good seating area outside with Bbq area. The large sliding doors to the rear of the garden are particularly nice with having a view to the wildlife in the garden. We enjoyed watching from inside the open planned living room, providing beautiful light to the lodge. We felt safe here, leaving one of are vehicle on site while out. Great facility with washing machine and dryer if required on your stay. Ironing board hair dryer, all that you may need. Super kitchen area, had everything we needed. We will return again as this has been a wonderful stay, just what we needed. Thank you Jane'

The lodge was pristine and we found all the amenities on offer far above average in comparison to other places we've stayed before.
